(Thanks to Jim Ragon who provided much of this data & to Rooke Sails, Memphis,TN, for an S2 22 brochure.)
Most specifications below were copied from S2 YACHTS brochures; the document for the 6.7 was dated September 15, 1980; the date of the documents for the 6.9 & 22 are not known. PHRF and Portsmouth ratings are from US Sailing Assoc., 1998. Some specs come from our own measurement.
The overall length of the 6.7, 6.9, & 22 boats is 6.7 meters (22'). In a letter (6-16-98) to Bob Procter, S2 said the 6.7 and 6.9/22 hull shapes are identical; this was also later confirmed by the designer of the 6.7, Don Wennersten (12-02-98). S2 switched from polyester to a modified epoxy/vinylester resin (AME 4000) for their entire hull laminates in 1984 (around hull #59 of the 6.9 series.) 6.7s & 6.9s have balsa cored hulls and decks; the 22s' hulls are not balsa cored according to survey reports and a former dealer (Rooke sails).
